I AM PROVIDING A LIFELINE, IF NECESSARY. PULL THE RIPCORD AND RIDE THIS!!!
It's April 14th, 2023 and Metallica officially go down in Encyclopedia Britannica as still existing, and arguably sit at the very tip top of the heavy metal record books. You can octagon this issue with the worthy stalwarts such as Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, but it's probably Metallica by a nose against all three (although Iron Maiden??... maybe??).
Oh wait, no! Nah! I haven't listened to today's brand new "72 Seasons" full recording yet... other than the mandatory minimum three pre-album release tracks thrown out to the masses already. Be thankful it isn't four or five tracks like every other artist feels the need to smother us with, minimizing all creative suspense with the actual album release. What I've heard so far in those three suckers are good songs with tempered, squeezed, cleaned, compressed, however-you-want-to-describe-it guitar production. This is a similar attack I can probably acquire from any number of 00's pop punk radio bands. It's sort of like you parked these harmless stuffed animals in front of the amplifiers. Hold your steeds everybody... I will obviously be giving the entire "72 Seasons" a shot, so I will politely wait if you will. Just please don't temper, squeeze, clean or compress my Metallica guitar production (well I guess you did that already). Please lay down the hammer. Because that's uhhh, my Metallica.
The REALLL REEZON we are here today is to worship at the rip-roaring altar of "Ride the Lightning". Let's get into it and get right out. If you hear 72 Seasons, and you find yourself unfulfilled, just an IF.... rush immediately over to aisle #1. There you will find yourself a beaten up old crusty cassette that houses the damn monster. It broke major ground and broke tiny heads. If you are full on metal, NYC hardcore, crossover thrash, SoCal punk, old school, nu school and looking to kick some ass in your own head, it will never break your soul. It absolutely lays down the hammer in all the right places. Which is everywhere.
